We’re glad you’re considering visiting Southport

Whether this is your first time at church or your first time in a while, our hope is that you feel welcomed, comfortable, and free to participate at your own pace.

We gather for worship every Sunday. You’re welcome to join us for other parts of the morning as well, but most first-time guests begin with a worship service.

Please stop by our welcome desk for a free gift and meet one our team members to learn how to get connected.

What times are the services?

The Traditional Service is 8:30 – 9:30 am. The Contemporary Service is 11:00 – 12:00 pm.

You can join us for worship in person or watch via livestream on our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@southportpresbyterianchurc1479/streams

Between the services, we have our Community Hour from 9:45 – 10:45 am.

What is Community Hour?

Community Hour is the time between our services where people can attend Sunday school or hang out for fellowship while drinking coffee and eating some Long’s Donuts! See our adult offerings here. See our kids ministry and student ministry offerings here.

How early should I arrive?

Generally, we recommend showing up about 5 – 10 minutes early to give yourself enough time to park, walk in, and get situated in your seat. One of our volunteers will be there to greet you and give you a bulletin on your way in!

What should I wear?

The clothes you’ll see at Southport on a Sunday are reflective of our community, representing a cross-section of preferred lifestyles. You’ll likely see as many people in polos, khakis, T-shirts, and jeans as you will in suits, ties, and dresses. We encourage people to come as they are and dress in what feels most comfortable.

Is childcare available?

During the 8:30 am Traditional and 11:00 am Contemporary services, we offer nursery care for ages 0 – 4. Parents who would like to use the nursery are welcome to check their child in before the service or at any point during the service.

We warmly invite children aged 5 and up to join their families for the services. We believe that children aren’t just the future of the church; they are part of the Church now. That belief shapes our ministry philosophy that we want kids to be in the worship services with our wider church family, so our Kids Ministry meets during Community Hour to allow kids to join the congregation for worship.

See our kids ministry and student ministry offerings here.

All of our children and youth volunteers have an application process and a background check.

Where do I take my kids?

Infant – 5th Grade
Check in upstairs at the kids’ check-in center by the Loft, and our volunteer will help guide your family where they need to go!

6th-12th Grade Room 201 (upstairs Welcome Place hallway)
6th-12th grade students meet in room 201 (The Camp Room) upstairs for Bible study and fellowship.

What denomination is this church?

As a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC), we are part of a global movement of churches that share the characteristics of being evangelical, Presbyterian, Reformed, and missional.

We are led by a session of elders. Learn more about our church leadership here.

Can I take communion?

We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of every month, and all baptized believers who trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are welcome to partake. If you’re not sure, it’s perfectly okay to simply pass the elements. No one will single you out or make you feel awkward.

What if I don’t know anyone?

That’s okay; most people don’t on their first visit. If you’d like to meet someone, our greeters would love to help you find your way or introduce you, but there’s no pressure. We also invite you to stop by the welcome center to receive a free gift and learn more about our church.

I have questions about Christianity. Is there someone I can talk to?

You can email questions@southportpres.org, and we would be happy to speak with you. You can also call the church office (317-534-2900) during the week, and we can connect you with someone who can answer your questions.

Do I have to give money?

No. You are our guest, and there is absolutely no expectation for you to give. We’re just glad you’re here. If you decide this is a church you want to call home, giving is one way our members participate in the life and mission of the church, but that comes later, not on your first visit.

Where is the church?

We are located just off Southport Road, less than a mile west of I-65.
