kids Ministry
“Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
his greatness no one can fathom.
One generation commends your works to another;
they tell of your mighty acts.”
We believe that children aren't just the future of the church, they are part of the Church now. That belief shapes our ministry philosophy that we want kids to be in the worship services with our wider church family, so our Kids Ministry meets during Community Hour to allow kids to join the congregation for worship. Our kids ministry seeks to help our kids engage with the same content as the congregation so we write our own curriculum that mirrors each sermon series taking place in our family worship services. Helping kids to have a connection with scriptures and stories at an age-appropriate level before they dig in a little deeper in the church service.
Our K-5th graders meet in the Loft on the second floor above the Gathering Place, where they begin in small groups to help begin to build relationships. They then transition into a large group for worship, teaching and an object lesson. They then return to their small groups to answer further questions about the lesson from the day. Service ends with a large group game until pick up.
Preschool (potty trained - K) meets in the Family Room on the second floor above the Gathering Place. Preschoolers engage in stations where they play, move to large group for worship and a Bible story. Following large group they have a snack and complete a craft that goes along with the Bible story of the day. After craft they move back into play time until pick up.
Infants and Toddlers (not potty trained) have their own space where they can play, watch lessons on tv, have snack and be cared for all in a safe loving environment.

Youth Ministry
At Southport Pres we have a very active Middle School and High School Ministry. Our combined Youth Ministry exists to know Jesus Christ, to create community, to live the Good News of Christ, to grow in faith and to discover God’s purpose for our individual lives.
We gather multiple times a week to help students grow in their love for God and each other and to engage in service to those inside and outside of our church. Students meet on Sunday mornings during Community Hour from 9:45am-10:45am to dig deeper into God’s word and grow in their relationship with Jesus.
Middle School meets upstairs in The Family Room
High School meets in Paul Gearhart's office in the Center Hallway
We meet Sunday evenings for fun and fellowship, a Bible teaching, and age-appropriate small group discussion.
Throughout the year we also have small groups, discipleship training, mission trips, summer camp, outreach events and a myriad of fun activities.
