And away we go!
I’m glad you found your way to The Corner. Glen and I will be updating it routinely (new content drops at least every Tues) in the hope to increase connection and communication. We want you to know what’s going on at your church home, how the Lord has and seems to be moving…and how you can join Him in that.
So with that in mind…
Many of you have asked about the book I referenced in my sermon last week. I discovered Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund when searching for a book to read with the staff. It turned out not to be a good fit for that, but a brilliant read none-the-less.
Gentle and Lowly explores the heart of Christ. Reflecting on Matthew 11, Ortlund opens up an often forgotten yet central truth about God’s tender love for the sinful…something we easily forget. It deep dives into passages that speak of who Christ is and encourages readers with the affections of Christ for his people. The book handles scripture with solid exegesis and us with insightful applications.
The 23 chapters average about 5 pages in length, so it’s a great daily read. It’ll take about 10 minutes to read, and a lifetime to digest. If you are looking for your next read or simply to grow deeper in your understanding of who Christ is, who we are before him, and how we live together, then this may be the book for you.
