Project 200: From Adam Decker
Dear Church Family,
Project 200 has been stirring in my heart for the past year or more and now the work has begun. What is Project 200 and what’s the purpose? We are nearing the 200th anniversary of the beginning of Southport Presbyterian Church and now is a good time to ask the question: What is the Lord calling us to as a congregation and church for the next 200 years? This has been a common theme in my prayers for some time now. Apparently this isn’t just a concern for me. As I have conversations with others in our church, I continue to hear a similar response, “Yeah, that’s been on my heart too!”
The exciting part about Project 200 and the process of discovery and discernment is the team’s shared conviction that our hands should and will be wide open to the Lord’s calling. No one has a predetermined goal or destination. We are truly in this and moving through this process to see exactly where the Lord wants us. What will this mean for Southport Pres? We aren’t sure, it’s a step of faith. But we know we serve a faithful God who uses His church to carry out His work.
Over the coming months we ask the congregation to keep this team in prayer. We also invite you to share with us your thoughts and insights. This can be done immediately by completing the survey we rolled out on Sunday at both services and via email. Your survey input can be submitted up until this weekend by clicking this link: https://www.research.net/r/southportvp or, if you need a paper copy, please come by the church office and one will be provided.
Sincerely,
Adam Decker
