Major Props

One of the greatest joys of serving as a pastor at Southport Pres is getting a 'front row seat' to watch our leaders lead and our servants serve.  I suspect that's why Sunday was so very special!

What was known by most...
We had some technical difficulties during our 9am worship service.  In particular, our sound was slightly off for much of the service and the lyrics to songs were not existent.

What was not known by most...
During our routine Sunday worship preparations, the computer that runs our live stream crashed…failed…died.  While we have prepared for this possibility, as it would happen, our redundancy plan failed as well.  How often does that happen?

So…with less than 45 minutes before worship began, Paul Berkemeier and Dave Mennel went to work converting a spare machine to spit out our live stream.  What would normally take hours to finish in a calm environment, Paul and Dave did in a pressure packed 45 minutes…without speaking French or tossing any chairs.

What’s more, Sally and Stacey were able to lead worship.  Glen was able to preach.  Tracy was able to rehearse.  Paul and Dave quietly and quickly went about their work…leading and serving.

Sadly, as you now know, the software for the lyrics wasn’t installed until the 9am service was finished (Paul and Dave didn’t want to download software while live streaming…good decision).  But, the service was streamed (even if the sound was not the best) and that would not have happened without Paul and Dave.

Well done you two.
