3 B's of Small Groups, Part 2
Our small group ministry exists to enable the people of Southport Presbyterian Church to grow as disciples of Jesus and to serve others in the context of relationships. A small group is a place to Belong, Bless, and Become.
Gospel communities always have a gospel mission. Yes, a group is a place to "get to know the people you go to church with." A small group is also a place where we seek to make a difference in the lives of others in the group and also in the lives of the community.
In Genesis 12:1-3, God tells Abraham that all of the nations of the earth will be blessed through his offspring. In other words, it's through the community of faith that the rest of the world gets to see first hand what it looks like to be transformed by the gospel.
Our group leaders recently read a book together titled Leading Small Groups that Thrive. Research shows that groups on mission together are more likely to grow deeper in their discipleship and experience a greater closeness in fellowship.
How can your small group be more involved in mission?
