3 B's of Small Groups, Part 3
Our small group ministry exists to enable the people of Southport Presbyterian Church to grow as disciples of Jesus and to serve others in the context of relationships. A small group is a place to Belong, Bless, and Become.
Those involved in gospel communities and engaged in gospel mission should expect gospel growth. The gospel changes us; we don't stay the same. As we study the Scriptures together and go deeper in relationships, we have the potential to sharpen each other and grow in our faith. A small group is a great way to "pursue God in the company of friends."
Corporate worship is necessary for our spiritual growth. When we gather together on the Lord's day to sing the gospel story, hear the Scriptures preached, partake of the sacraments, and offer our prayers and offerings to God, we experience transformation.
One thing we observe about the early church in the book of Acts is they continued to meet regularly as a big group . . . but they also started meeting "house to house." It's in these smaller gatherings that we have the opportunity to go deeper in our gospel growth.
Would you consider becoming a part of a smaller group? It could be a group that meets in a home, a prayer group, a bible study group, a quilting group--any group that is smaller than the big group. Our annual sign-ups are coming in August!
